Michael joined the Firm in 1999 after practicing for five years in the Las Vegas office of Lionel Sawyer & Collins. In 1994, he graduated magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he was appointed Managing Editor of the BYU Law Review. His academic achievements earned him Order of the Coif distinction. Prior to law school, Michael attended the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University (B.S. Finance, 1991), graduating with University Honors, the University's highest undergraduate distinction.

Michael enjoys a broad commercial litigation practice, including construction and mechanic's lien litigation, real estate litigation, intellectual property litigation, contract disputes, corporate law, and partnership disputes. He represents numerous major shopping center developers in landlord/tenant disputes and construction litigation, and he lectures for the State Bar of Nevada on landlord/tenant related matters. Michael also represents creditors in bankruptcy proceedings.

Examples of Michael's experience include:

  • Participation in the successful defense of a national food concessionaire in a jury trial involving fraud, breach of contract, and landlord/tenant claims for several million dollars involving proceedings in both state and bankruptcy court.
  • Successful prosecution of a federal trademark infringement action on behalf of a well-known Las Vegas resort.
  • Defense of a large casino holding company against claims related to an aborted sale of a $250 million property.
  • Defense of a national real estate developer against breach of fiduciary duties in connection with development of a Las Vegas Strip project.
  • Representation of national equipment and vehicle manufacturers and financiers in bankruptcy proceedings to protect their interests.

Michael is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Clark County Bar Association, and the Utah State Bar. He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts in Nevada and Utah, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Michael serves as a Judge Pro Tempore in the District Court, Clark County, Nevada.
